Treat Recipe
"Choco Mommas"
Don't know what to do for mom on Mother's Day?
Flowers and candy from the store are always the standard
run for Mother's Day, but make mom a batch of these and she will truly be wowed!
"Choco Mommas" are a heavenly new treat developed
especially for Mother's Day by Family Fun Shop. They are a type of chocolate chip cookie
with a deep richness of chocolate and a superb combination of complementary sweetness.
You will surely impress mom by showing your expertise in the kitchen by making "Choco
Mommas." By the way, you don't have to tell her how easy it really is to make them...just
let her be amazed!
Choco Mommas Recipe
Ingredients
1 Cups shortening
1 Cups brown sugar
1/2 Cup white sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp butter (or margarine)
3 eggs
1/2 tablespoon honey
3 Cups white flour
1 bag chocolate chips (milk chocolate 11.5 ounce
bag)
Directions
1. Add all of the
contents in blue above into a bowl and begin mixing.
2. Add the honey
into the bowl as the contents are being mixed.
3. Run the mixer on a slow
setting and slowly add flour a little bit at a time. It will take approximately 3 cups to
make this recipe. Add the flour until the batter will not stick to your fingers as you
roll portions of it into balls for cookies. Do not add too much flour...just enough to
make it a consistency that won't stick to your hands.
4. With the mixer
off, pour in the bag of chocolate chips. Mix them into the dough by hand.
Baking Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
Grease a cookie sheet with shortening lightly to keep the
cookies from sticking to the metal.
Roll cookie dough into balls about the size of golf
balls. Place them on the greased cookie sheet and flatten them slightly.
Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 9 minutes or until
they appear slightly browned.
Let the cookies cool for about 10 minutes, then put them
on a plate for mom.
If you can't resist the urge to eat a couple, at least wipe the chocolate off
of your face before giving mom the plate of cookies!
Note to kids: Only try cooking with your parents'
permission. Better yet, get Dad to help. Keep mom out of the kitchen on Mother's Day.
